This is the chronicle of my year on sabbatical. I quit my job to prepare for grad school apps, and because I was feeling burnt out from working in child welfare. My plan is to spend this next year doing literally WHATEVER I WANT*.
A Sabbatical is defined as:
- a break or change from a normal routine (as of employment)
- a leave often with pay granted usually every seventh year (as to a college professor) for rest, travel, or research —called also sabbatical leave
- Any extended period of leave from ones customary work, especially for rest, to acquire new skills or training, etc. (my favorite)
I went to college for 4 years and work for 3, so it feels about right for a sabbatical. I have high hopes that this break will be a necessary change of pace, that I’ll have a lot of great life experiences that I wouldn’t have been able to while working full time, and that I’ll also be able to rest. I don’t document enough, so I’m using this space to have something to remember the time by, and a project to keep me busy.
Thanks for checking in, and I hope you’ll follow along 🙂
*That is also financially feasible.
[…] I’ve explained before, the sabbatical is an idea that I dreamed up after deciding to quit my job. Back when I first […]
