This is the chronicle of my year on sabbatical. I quit my job to prepare for grad school apps, and because I was feeling burnt out from working in child welfare. My plan is to spend this next year doing literally WHATEVER I WANT*.

A Sabbatical is defined as:

  1. a break or change from a normal routine (as of employment)
  2. a leave often with pay granted usually every seventh year (as to a college professor) for rest, travel, or research —called also sabbatical leave
  3. Any extended period of leave from ones customary work, especially for rest, to acquire new skills or training, etc. (my favorite)

I went to college for 4 years and work for 3, so it feels about right for a sabbatical. I have high hopes that this break will be a necessary change of pace, that I’ll have a lot of great life experiences that I wouldn’t have been able to while working full time, and that I’ll also be able to rest. I don’t document enough, so I’m using this space to have something to remember the time by, and a project to keep me busy.

Thanks for checking in, and I hope you’ll follow along 🙂

*That is also financially feasible.
